Anna & Neil h
Owners & Instructors
We are Anna and Neil Hultgren, we live in the Como Park neighborhood with our son, Archer and our dog, Mumford. We met about eight years ago while studying Exercise Science at the University of Minnesota and quickly bonded over our shared passion for helping others through the pursuit of health and wellness
Over the last several years, we have continued on this pursuit along many paths. Four years ago we started a hemp farm and CBD business called Carpe Diem. We create a wide range of CBD products from tinctures to muscle creams and gummies. Each product is raised from seed to shelf in order to maintain the highest quality and help people on their path to health and wellness. This last summer we expanded our brand to include You Betcha Cannabis products that are created from the same home grown hemp and high quality testing.
In August 2020, we wanted to continue to gravitate further towards helping our community pursue health through movement and physical activity. We extended the Carpe Diem brand to Carpe Diem Yoga Studio in Minneapolis and have since created a vibrant community through running Yoga and HIIT classes in our Northeast Loft. in May 2022, we continued our brand expansion to our second studio, and full wellness center, carpe diem como ave. We are so grateful for our community of staff, students, and instructors who allow us to do what we love every day and help each person find their wellness routine at our two studios.

Kylie M
regional manager + instructor
Hi! I’m Kylie, a Twin Cities based yoga, and group fitness instructor. Since the start of my career in 2017 I have strived to create a safe, accessible, customizable and fun experience through guided movement, breath and other healing modalities for others to explore their personal wellness. In each class, I intend to lead an organically, aligned movement journey for all levels of experience in physical fitness and yoga. I combine knowledge of high intensity, heat building body exercises and the physical practice of yoga along with breath work, meditation and spiritual undertones to create a unique, light filled experience for each group and individual. I currently serve the Twin Cities and greater MN community through my personal brand Holistic Kylie leading one on one, small group and event styled classes along with instructing/managing Carpe Diem Studio at both our Minneapolis and St. Paul locations and coaching group fitness classes through Life Time Fitness. It is truly an honor to be able to serve both as an instructor and manager for the Carpe Diem community at Northwind Lofts & Healing Elements.

Hi! I'm Kara. It is truly a joy for me to be a part of the Carpe Diem team. After taking a few classes I knew this was a special place that I wanted in my life. Now I get to take class alongside other clients which is so fun! In addition to working here I also teach piano lessons to kids and adults. I love anything outdoors - I find nature to be the most healing thing for me so I am always out walking, swimming in Lake Harriet, or just soaking up the sun! I love coffee, tea, reading thriller/mystery books, farmer's markets, sunsets, and learning how to make my own products using natural ingredients. See you around!
ALIVIA F
Front Desk Staff
Alivia’s love for movement, healing, and the arts, began most prominently during her very first dance class at the age of three. This love of expression and embodiment has only grown and developed into a lifelong interest in how capable our unique and individual bodies are to listen and grow from all that we have experienced and are currently living through. She has spent much of her life learning more on the science and art of healing and human growth through studies in dance, psychology, yoga, and most recently acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. As a yoga instructor, she hopes to guide classes that aid and foster restoration and rejuvenation by bringing students to a deeper confidence in their personal awareness and how infinite the capabilities are through that. Alivia is also grateful to be a part of the amazing team of Wellness Associates at Carpe Diem and is continually inspired by seeing the positive change an atmosphere like this can help foster and inspire.

Hello! I’m Chris (he/him) and I am an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist. I received my B.S. in Exercise Science at Minnesota State University, Mankato. For those that don’t know, Adam Thielen attended the same university. Not a super big deal, but a moderately sized deal, nonetheless. I have been working within the health and fitness space since 2019. I’m of the belief that exercise and fitness is all-inclusive and should be a comfortable space for everybody no matter how experienced or new you are to this world. I’ll always encourage you to strive for your best, take breaks when needed, and have fun while you’re at it! Another passion of mine is working with the geriatric population, which I do full-time. I help our communities’ seniors and their families navigate the sometimes daunting and challenging world of assisted living, and I love it! I enjoy spending any free time with my beautiful wife and our new puppy. I thoroughly enjoy food of all kinds and in large quantities! I am also a sucker for reality T.V. (shout out to Vanderpump Rules). I’m super excited to be a part of the wonderful team we have at Carpe Diem!

Mallory d
MASSAGE THERAPIST
Hey there, I’m Mallory! Life these days is stressful! The tension that once carried us through our day, if left unattended, may transform into a barrier instead. I believe that massage is exploratory, a gateway to discover what holds us back, and an opportunity to allow careful healing into our lives. Within my practice, I emphasize breathwork and mindfulness, combining aspects of Swedish massage, deep tissue massage, lymphatic massage, trigger point therapy, joint mobilization and facilitated stretching, while using tools such as hot stones, cold stones, and suction cupping. With all of this and my own two hands, we can work together to find the massage experience you’ve been looking for!
While I’m not working, you may find me filing my nails, sipping a hot cup of tea, reading Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach, taking a nap on a tree, engaging in spiritual exercise, relaxing in an epsom salt bath, playing with my synthesizer, or singing my heart out at karaoke night!

Rebecca T
Yoga/Fitness Instructor
Rebecca Tanner loves any type of movement that connects mind and body, and believes that moving our bodies is an integral part of being healthy, both internally and externally. Rebecca focuses on inspiring people to move, to challenge themselves in safe and supported ways, and to be comfortable in their own body. She helps people experience physical fitness as something they can enjoy doing as much as she does by infusing all types of movement with a little – or a lot! – of fun! It’s deeply important to Rebecca to create an accessible, inclusive, and welcoming space so that people can come together and show up however they need to. It’s essential to have space for kindness towards ourselves and others as we continue to do the work and tackle inner and outer challenges both in and out of class.
Currently, Rebecca is based in Minneapolis, MN where she is so lucky to be part of a vibrant community of dancers and movers. As a dancer and choreographer, Rebecca has explored creativity and self expression and those values have become a part of all of her movement practices. They create a unique space for self-exploration that invites us to engage with our bodies in a way that allows for discovery and acceptance of our physical experiences.

Rebecca has continued her studies locally through the Himalayan Yoga Tradition and has traveled to study with a variety of master teachers including Seane Corn, Shiva Rea and Saul David Raye. She has made multiple pilgrimages to India to honor and experience the root culture and holy sites from which the practice of yoga has evolved. Rebecca draws on her experiences to channel authentic teachings while cultivating sacred space in which students are encouraged to access Self through the architecture of the postures and technology of the breath.

Andrew G
Yoga Instructor
Andrew is a Minneapolis born and bred yoga practitioner who plays drums and percussion as his vocation, works in the trades in the hardwood flooring industry, and has a wide range of life experiences that he brings to his yoga instruction. For the last decade plus, yoga has been a foundational aspect of his life and he enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for the practice. It is paramount for yoga to be accessible to any and everyone in Andrew’s teachings and he is adept at reading the room and making people feel welcome and honored in class just exactly where they are at.
While he is an enthusiast for fitness–rock climbing/bouldering, tennis, swimming, etc., he also believes yoga is very much a practice that transcends exercise, and that the physical activity element is a wonderful byproduct of practicing yoga. When not involved in any of the aforementioned pursuits, Andrew can be found studying Portuguese, Spanish, French or Italian (usually in that order), continuing his seemingly steep learning curve studies of piano and flute, riding his bike around town, and hanging with his partner Betsy and their dog Danney Mars. He is also a baseball fanatic and has a lifetime goal of seeing every major league team play on their home field — 23 of 30 in the books! So while a little out of the box, this is where he feels most comfortable in the world of yoga, bringing his own style to the practice while maintaining reverence for the deep and never-ending nuance of the tradition.
Classes: Sundays 12:00pm Yoga Flow at como
Emily W
Yoga Instructor
Emily is a 250-hour certified yoga instructor. Her primary teaching style is Vinyasa Flow, but she also teaches Restorative Yoga and HIIT (high intensity interval training). She invites all students, no matter their ability or experience level, to embrace their full selves and tap into their power and potential in class. She strives to cultivate an environment of fun and lightheartedness in every single class she teaches.
The beauty of yoga for Emily lies in its contradictions. It teeters on the feelings of grounding and groundlessness, deep focus and total release of conscious thought, movement and stillness. It allows her to have a “constant” amidst busy and ever-changing days and years, while also setting her sights on continuous growth through intention. She believes that yoga is a generator of kindness, acceptance, quiet, and peace; and that a yoga studio should serve as an arms-wide-open space of love and encouragement where it is safe to question the status quo.

Henry W
Yoga Instructor
Henry is ecstatic to join the teaching team at Carpe Diem!
A recent transplant from Chicago, Henry is excited to get in the room with you to recenter and move in community. He likes to bring a sense of lightness, awareness and focus to his asana practice, weaving in his physical theatre and comedy background. Though the physical practice of yoga can be difficult, how can we build better relationships with ourselves, our community, and find a sense of play to carry us through?
Henry’s classes focus on Vinyasa flows and restorative poses, looking to find the balance between ease and effort. He likes to use all tools at his disposal to help you find release in your body and mind, often weaving in his study of Alexander Technique and other somatic practices. Among the yamas, he focuses on Ahimsa — non-violence — and is always looking to make his teaching more trauma-informed and intended towards social justice. He hopes to help plant the seeds for new openness, alignment, and joy for you to cultivate in your practice.
Henry is a 200-hour registered yoga teacher through Tula Yoga Studio in Chicago, Illinois. He is currently attending an Alexander Technique Teacher Training program through Soma Studios Minnesota.

Yoga instructor
I started practicing yoga in 2018 as a way to unwind from my day job teaching math to middle schoolers in Memphis, TN. During the pandemic, I dove deeper into the world of yoga philosophy and practice, pursuing my YTT in Ashtanga and Vinyasa with DwiPada Yoga School.
I started teaching public classes as the world began opening back up and completely fell in love with the creativity of planning a flow, the beauty of moving and supporting bodies, and the magic of the exchange between teacher and student. I took time off teaching in 2024 to focus on a career change and a move to Minneapolis.
In that time, I found my groove as a student again and a new yoga home at Carpe Diem. I’m so excited to be back teaching again, especially at this wonderful studio!

Hello! My name is Ben and I've been working in fitness as a certified personal trainer for almost four years. I would say I'm part toddler and part old man... weird combo I know, just depends on the day. I like having fun and bring lots of smiles and energy to all the classes I teach. I love music of all genres and you'll catch me singing and dancing along to most songs (even though a can neither sing nor dance at all).
Two things in fitness I am most passionate about: #1 helping people simplify fitness, reminding them that small changes done CONSISTENTLY over the long term are how you see meaningful change and #2 helping women be confident that they can (and should) be lifting heavy ass weights. I love people, so come hang out Wednesday mornings at 7:15am

My interest in styles has varied over the years. Hatha, Ashtanga, Bikram, Vinyasa and Yin are all forms I have been drawn to at one time or another. As much as I feel honored to help students cultivate and maintain a regular yoga practice, I also firmly believe that teaching often involves guiding others to the strength and knowledge that already lies within.
Personally, my wellness journey involves a commitment to being physically active daily to properly integrate mind, body and spirit. So don't be surprised to see me attending classes too — because I enjoy being "on the mat" as a student equally as much as an instructor. Aside from yoga, I spent most of my time writing, running, reading, hiking and drinking bougie coffee.
